Back in the saddle....

Hadn't really been playing poker lately... Just got too much going on with my kids starting school again and getting back to helping them with their homework, making dinner and making sure they are in bed early...

Decided to play in Steve's $50 tourney last night... Was hoping I could possibly do well in that, so I could play in the cash game... Started out playing real, REAL tight, and pops, who happened to be at my table, took full advantage... I limp under the gun, gets around to Pops, who's on the button and he raises 800... I call and we see a flop of K/7/3 all diamonds... I'm like shit... Auto check, Pops doesn't even slow down and puts out a continuation bet of 1000, I check my cards and flip over the 6 of diamonds and say I had a good flush draw... then I flip over my other 6... Pops goes "you had sixes?? You were WAYYY good" and flips over Q-6 of hearts... GRRRRRRRR... Nice hand pops...

I caught absolutely NO HANDS... the one hand I did have; queens, I played like a donkey and went all in, which was a huge over bet consider there was only one caller...

I doubled up once when I flopped two pair, and that was about it... Got blinded off till I only had 4 times the big blind and went all in with 10's... Got called by the big blind (who I appropriately named "baby Hoyt") who called me with a baby ace and hit one on the flop... Good night haga, no cash game for you...

A Perfect Weekend....

I don't even know where to start... I guess maybe I should start from where I got an email Thursday afternoon, inviting me and my wife to a cookout to celebrate two of my friends birthdays(the same two guys I usually go to AC with to celebrate our birthdays) with a cookout... I say to myself "that's cool, sounds like fun"... Till I realize which freaking day they wanted to have it... SATURDAY... No, not like NEXT Saturday, I'm talking THIS SATURDAY, like two days notice Saturday... So now I'm in a quandry... Do I say fuck no and stay the hell home and offend my friends, or do I suck it up an go??

Now let me explain... This past Saturday was HUGE, HUGE, HUGE day for anybody who follows college football... 7 games where the opponents were ranked in the top 25, plus the fact Michigan was playing Notre Dame AT Notre Dame, which had me nervously stalking around my house, smoking cigs like Morton Downey Jr.... Michigan hadn't won their first road game in 7 years, hadn't beaten Notre Dame at home in 12 years and had lost the previous two in a row to them too boot... So I was a little nervous (apoplectic was more like it...)

So I talked to my wife.. And decided that I would watch the first half at my house (so I could scream, cuss and run around in the privacy of my own home) and then we would head over at half time...

Well my worries were soon alleved... Quite quickly I might add.. Michigan scored on a interception return for a touchdown on the 3rd play from scrimmage and never looked back.. They drilled Notre Dame 47-21, and it wasn't even THAT close... It was a woodshed asswhooping...

With that having me on cloud nine, I looked forward to Sunday... I had already stated that I had been waiting for Sunday for over 3 months... And it was finally here... FAMILY VALUES TOUR 06!!!!!

I can't even begin to put into words the experience was... After watching 10 Years, Direngrey (their lead singer was a little bizarre, and their fan base was rabid) Flyleaf and Stonesour, I was AMPED for Deftones and Korn... When they finally took the stage, it was bananas... All I know is, I was dead smack in the middle of the mosh pit 3 different times and I swear I had to have been the smallest guy in there by at least 50-60 pounds... I didn't give a shit... When Deftones played "My Own Summer (shove it)" it was a wrap... I was bouncing around everywhere... Every other song I would get out to take a break (or after the second time, to recoup from getting elbowed in the stomach) but then Deftones would play another top notch song, and I would hop my ass right back in there... I am STILL PISSED they only got to play a 50 minute set... But I guess beggars can't be choosy...

Now I had stated previously that I was basically going to see Deftones and Korn was just icing on the cake... I was curious to see how they would sound since Head had left the band a while back... Well when Korn came out... I didn't think I could get more fired up, after just watching Deftones, but I was WRONG... They started out with playing "Right Now" and before I had even realized what I was doing, I was running around, hopping off people and going beserk... My wife was like WTF??? LOL.. Oh well.. Korn tore the house down... They were insane... Jonathan Davis twice pulled out this huge fire hose and doused the whole pit PLUS some of the fans sitting back in the seated section... Completely crazy...

Like I said a perfect weekend.. I wish I could have framed it....

Christmas in September.....

Every September for the last couple of years, me and a couple of buddies would head off to AC, one because all of our birthdays were in Sept and it was sort of a birthday gift to ourselves and, two because we would try and qualify for the WPT tournament at the Borgata... Now I've never been lucky OR good enough to have actually satellited my way in (closest I ever got was 80th when the top 30 would win seats) But all in all it would be a good trip, would play some cash games, some Taj daily tournaments and some all in all tomfoolery when guys go out...

Well this year I'm not going... As much as it pains me to not go (my boys are still a little pissed about it) I will not be heading to AC when the WPT comes to Jersey, because of my own little X-mas present I bought for myself and my wife back in June.....

FAMILY VALUES TOUR 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this concert event all fucking summer... Actually as soon as I found out they were coming to town, I think I debated on going to AC and missing this concert or buying tickets for about ONE MILLISECOND... It wasn't even close... Deftones AND Korn?!?!?!?! At the same venue, on the same day?!?!?! I basically shitted on myself when I realized Deftones were playing, Korn being there is just icing on a VERY DELICIOUS piece of cake... I don't know how I'm going to sleep the night before.. I am going to be bouncing off the WALLS...

If you've never seen Deftones in concert, and you like hard rock, you don't know what your missing...


This year I've been blessed to have already seen Deftones (YES!!!), NIN (Thank you SO much Stormy!!) and Hurt...

But Christmas will DEFINITELY be on September 17th this year!!!!!

Well after numerous requests after I had deleted my old blog, I am bringing back my blog... So you'll get to laugh at my continuous bad poker play, my daily rants about Michigan and all things football, maybe even a joke or two... (Don't hold your breath..)
